What is expungement ?

Expungement is the court process of sealing criminal convictions from the general public, including landlords and employers. Resulting in increased employment and housing opportunities. 

What has changed?

Number of Convictions: Up to 3 felonies and an unlimited number of misdemeanors can now be expunged (depending upon the type of convictions).

Multiple Convictions: Multiple felonies and misdemeanors steaming from the same offense that occurred within the same day, will be treated as one offense for expungement purposes.

What is the waiting period?

2 or 3 Felonies: 7-years
1 Felony or High-Level Misdemeanor: 5-years
Low-Level Misdemeanor: 3-years 
 *Eligible for expungement after probation, parole, release from incarceration or other monitoring   ends (whichever ends the latest), given that the individual has remained conviction free.
